About Me

I have been a counsellor for twenty-five years assisting individuals to change their lives for the better.  The journey towards change involves making positive connections with ourselves and others. Connecting with those who can support us is an achievable and rewarding challenge.

I believe my role is to empower and assist people who want to achieve growth by developing new pathways for change. Words that others have used to describe me include having integrity,  authenticity, empathy, curiosity, generosity, insight, wisdom and passion.

I admire the human spirit and the persistence of the mind to heal itself and make new connections for positive change.

My Services

Therapist:

I incorporate the trauma informed practice  principles of safety, choice, collaboration, empowerment and trustworthiness in my work with children, adolescents and adults. I have an interest in assisting people in the development and promotion of long term healthy relationships. I assist people to develop strategies to manage their own wellbeing. I love teaching children about the brain and helping them learn to identify and manage their emotions. I work with people during periods of transition which can be an incredibly difficult and challenging time. I use an eclectic approach and utilise evidenced based approaches including EMDR therapy, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, Strengthens based approaches and psychotherapy.

Trainer & Facilitator:

I design and develop customised training sessions and workshop packages for organisations. My recent training sessions have included Working with clients with complex mental health needs, Building a resilient workforce, and many other allied health topics. I enjoy running groups for clients wanting the support of others on their journey for change.

Supervisor:

I use reflective practice when providing professional supervision to Allied Health professionals including Social Workers, Student Wellbeing staff, Counsellors and Counselling Psychologists. I also supervise Social Workers seeking Mental Health accreditation with the AASW.

Reflections allow people to find their own solutions. As a therapist, I use strength-based counselling to promote change for personal and professional growth.
